flying cebu pacific
if you badly need to go on a vacation far far away but not so far (as in hongkong or singapore?) but you are on a budget constraint, you should consider flying cebu pacific.
its my first time to fly cebu pacific, whether domestic or international, and to be honest, i was a bit hesitant on booking with this airline. for my past visits to hongkong or singapore, although cathay pacific and singapore airlines were always the first choice, i would always fly with PAL. i guess, there’s always this “comfortable feeling” flying with the country’s official carrier.
at the chep lap kok airport … that’s japan airlines at the other gate
anyways, if you book early enough, you would be able to travel to hongkong at half the price as that of flying via pal or cathay pacific. however, at that price there’s always a catch … travel tax is not included (to be paid at the airport), its a basic bolt and metal plane … no tv, no radio and most of all … except for the free C2, no free meal. if you want food (noodles, spuds, etc), it costs 50 pesos (1 dollar) each. at dahil evening flight ang kinuha ko going to hongkong, at gutom na gutom na ko, pinatos ko ang 50pesos na cup noodles.
pero dahil less than 2hrs flight lang naman, forgivable na yan. one more thing … may homemade entertainment sila. on my way to hk, may “bring me” contest. nung pauwi ako, trivia questions naman. medyo iba lang ang dating
well, at least i won a free pillow sa trivia contest.
my cebu pacific pillow
aside from the above, flying cebu pacific is quite ok. flight was on time. no ants (ehem …). plane is new and medyo tahimik (its an Airbus!). stewardess/stewards are very polite. flight is ok … takeoff and landing were smooth. and most of all … no cockroach in the packaging of ’sterile’ earphones (di ko na sasabihin kung saang airline nangyari sa kin to pero classic yan).

by the way … starting this october, cebu pacific will no longer have a counter in the In-Town CheckIn facilities of HK. no choice but to bring your luggage with you and check-in at the airport. di na pwedeng check-in sa umaga, shopping at lakwatsa all day, tapos flight sa gabi. i guess they are cutting expenses to keep the low fare cost.
maybe i’ll fly with them again

i do travel either via PAL or Cebu Pacific. PAL, as its acronym says “Plane Always Late”. i really dunno, but they have this habit of waiting for passenger even up to an hour. 5J naman is always on time.
at di rin naman nakakatakot ang 5J for domestic, since they are using Airbus. pero kahit noong McDonnel Douglas pa lang sila, ok naman flights nila.
Having inflight games is an innovation started by 5J sa domestic flights nila. they usually do this in all flights except early morning flights kasi tulog mga passengers.
