The Last Stand
Among the 2006 ’summer’ movies in the US, X-Men: The Last Stand is the one I was really looking forward to. More than Superman Returns, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest and even The Da Vinci Code. First, because X-Men is my favorite comic series of all time (spent so many sleepless nights reading the comics) and second, because of Hugh Jackman
Honestly, I couldnt say which is better, this one or X2: X-Men United, but it is definitely better than the first. There’s already too many sites and blogs out there that gave the details and reviews of the movie so I wouldn’t go into that anymore. All I can say is I wasn’t disappointed with it
Just a few notes though:
- What happened to the Nightcrawler (Allan Cummings)? No explanation of his absence.
- I guess Halle Berry got what she wanted … a ‘Storm’ that really kicks ass and not just some pretty face superhero who gets knock off easily. And I love her hair
- Even with a few lines, Famke Janssen is just great. I just wish they didnt kill the Phoenix/Jean Grey character in this movie, the ‘Phoenix Saga’ is my favorite in the series. I guess they have no plans of making it into a movie.
- I wish Mystique stayed till the end. Why do they have to make her human? Eventhough she’s a villain, I love her character.
- That’s an unceremonious end for Cyclops. Just ok with me, I’m not a big fan anyway
- Why is it that in every movie Ian McKellen stars in, he is always the one that says there is a ‘war’ going on? Just watch Da Vinci and LOTR, and you’ll know what I mean.
- What happened to Pyro at Alcatraz? Was he vaporized like the others?
- And Hugh Jackman … I cant see any other actor playing Wolverine. He’s perfect for the role
- Will there be an X4? Wait til the credit ends.
I guess I’m still having an X3 hang-over because I’m watching X2 right now
