Domingo at Dapitan … best seats in the house kasi. dami nga akong katabing photographer dun e. meron matutuntungan at kahit maraming tao sa harap e makikita mo pa rin. :)

dami dami talagang tao …

The occassion looks so joyous on pictures and it maybe even more in actuality. Here in Zamboanga, Fiesta Pilar din sa Miyerkules.

Major Tom … hi :) it sure was a joyous occasion. and even though it was cloudy the whole day (and raining in bulacan!), hindi umulan sa Sto. Domingo. galing no? uy Happy Fiesta dyan sa inyo sa Zamboanga … i’ve never been to Mindanao, but if given the chance, gusto ko talaga mapuntahan ang Zamboanga :)

Ang ganda ng mga santo, no? Parang ginintuan. Sana mabiyayaan naman ng grasya ang Pilipinas. May tanong ako, bakit maitim si St. Martin de Porres?

Cecille October 12th, 2005 at 9:16 pm

“His father was a Spanish gentleman and his mother a coloured freed-woman from Panama”

:D

Cecille October 15th, 2005 at 12:06 am

The feast of the La Naval de Manila, dubbed as the procesion de las procesiones, is to commemorate the triumph of two ill-equipped galleons (Encarnacion and Rosario) against 18 Dutch warships in 1646. From then on the people from all over the philippines flock to Santo Domingo every 2nd sunday of October to perpetuate the promise of the 2 Captains and in thanks giving for the bountiful blessings they all have received through her intercession. Traditionally, this feast is well attended by the high society as this is the longest and grandest Marian celebration in the Philippines.

Even before the La Naval battles, devotion to the lady already exists. Countless miraculous events happened and has been recorded especially in some of the Almanaque de la Nuestra Senora del Rosario. The image was comissioned under the request of Don Luis Perez de Dasmarinas and under the direction of Hernando de los Rios Coronel in 1593.

This year, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary holds the celebration of the Centennary of the Lady’s Canonical Coronation to be held at the 4th of October, 2007. A series of concerts by popular artists as Basil Valdez, the UP Concert Chorus etc. which will coincide the nine-day novena. The Grand Procession will be the culmination of the affair on the 14th.
